What is this blog about?
The mission of this blog is to share the joy of reading and to promote literacy. I talk a lot about how reading helps children navigate the world and how it helps them grow up to be happy, healthy adults. In addition to children’s book reviews, you’ll see posts about education, child development and more.
Who is Aunt Sheryl?
I’m an aunt to more than twenty wonderful children. Some are all grown now and some are just babies, but these children have always had my heart.
A couple of years ago, while doing a lot of soul searching, I discovered that some of my fondest memories are of reading to one or more of the kids mentioned above. The look of wonder and discovery on a child’s face brings pure joy to me. So, I foolishly decided I wanted to be a children’s book author. I have a lot of reading, a lot of learning and a lot of writing to do before there’s a real book with my name on the cover, but reading children’s literature and writing for kids is now a part of who I am.
These days I share a cozy, city house with my husband, my baby boy, a one-eyed dog, a good kitty and another kitty who claims to be misunderstood, aka bad kitty. I make my living editing descriptions of products you might buy online…things like laptops and pet food.
